I don’t quite understand this episode. I thought Hamada was trying to start fights with people, but then I found out he’s just asking "Why?" in the rudest way possible. What really confused me was his reaction after every encounter. He seemed really tense each time.

it actually means more of a "what the fuck?" or "what the hell is your problem?". He was starting fights with people…that’y matsumoto was dressed as a referee and saying "fight"
I don’t really care much about this kind of scripted stuff. If it had been a proper competition with definite rules (like losing if you look away from your opponent or make a sudden reaction like Tanaka) it could have been great.
At least the final duel was on completely different level and judged properly. I completely lost it at "Nyandarou?"
