Seeing Chono from the Batsu Games as a playable character kinda caught me off guard. I had no idea that he was this famous. Really nice episode.

GOD DAMN

Another sub by SA-GCCX. They’re really getting sh*t done right now.

Really appreciate SAGCCX making all the subs but to tell the truth, their subtitle sux balls.

It is OK if you dont know ANY japanese AT ALL, but for people who are learning and know one or two japanese words, can read simple hiragana and katakana, SAGCCX subtitles is like trying to make fool of you. They localized the subs, something a fansubber should never do. Not just the speech but the game title, game character even the game story text, they localized it to be the same as the NA game release,

Example in Gun-Dec (vice project doom) Arino clearly said Chris but the subtitle had some balls to change it to frekin Christy. So annoying.

In Pilotwings for example, they change the instructor name even though in the video Arino and the narrator clearly said their Japanese name. What is wrong with using the Japanese name?

Why are they wasting their time finding the NA names and story text to put in the subtitle? Cant they just TRANSLATE it like everybody else?
For what? Nostalgia? of a bad english localization in retro games? What if the translator is in UK and they do Contra game. Do you want the subtitle to change the title to probotector instead?
Just my opinion.

I agree. While I don’t doom all localizations, the two things they should really take into account would be the audience and the type of media: people who are nerds enough to search for GCCX subs are very likely open to direct translations (ie. they don’t stop watching because they can’t handle few Japanese names and references), and it’s a TV show where you both see what happens on screen and hear the original audio so any changes will stick out easily.

I haven’t watched anything subbed in a long while since I learned basics of Japanese at an university and then watched and listened to all sorts of material (anime, owarai, seiyuu radios), but even before that localization overkills were easy to notice. Unfortunately subbers themselves are really rare because translating for free is something you do only if you really love it (and even then you might stop because of various reasons), so the only good solution would be learning the language (and I’m so glad I was able to take that path).

I disagree on this, but since every single time this comes up in fan circles of any show it becomes a huge sh*tfest (LOOKING AT YOU, 4CHAN /a/ AND /jp/ |( :finger:), I’ll just avoid this discussion and enjoy the subs.

Cool is that bakarhythm show available anywhere? So that I can watch for some context?

Also about the subs I agree also sometimes arino curses on the show, and it gets translate to "damnit" or something else, sometimes he says "kuso" in a specific time of voice which could mean shit or bullshit… that’s just one example I can think of, I’m sure they have their reasons as to why they sub it the way they do.

Ernie uploaded it in November. Go back a couple pages and see if the link still works.

It’s crazy how much money you can make with Esports nowadays. Back when I was a pro Quake player the big prize for first place was like a new mouse or a graphics card. I should have been born 10 years later :o

I don’t have "Dragon Ball fighters Z tournament". I have "iispo #19 DRAGON BALL ZENKAI BATTLE (2017.09.16)".

Ernie if I’m not mistaken the episode Arlekin was talking about will air next week. Btw I’m interested in that as well. The Street Fighter tournament was more enjoyable than I thought, even though Arino just played a side role.
