But most of the time, Google subs don’t work for me
So last night I was able to automate recording Hosei on Marco Polori. My computer didn’t shutdown but the script for that works when tested, so maybe it was due to my monitors power saving function (I had insomnia so I ended up watching the computer do its thing with the monitor on until I fell asleep ).
If anyone tries this and finds a good software or Handbrake settings to convert the resultant MPEG file to MP4 without audio sync issues then please let me know, I’m having issues with that. There are ways to get VLC to convert to MP4 whilst streaming but it’ll be awhile before I figure that out… Alternatively I might just create an Action(s) file to hit the red Record button in VLC as a quick and dirty fix.
[b:11efab2b]So with that said. First you’ll need the following:[/color:11efab2b][/b:11efab2b]
[b:11efab2b]Action(s) Software[/b:11efab2b][/url:11efab2b] A nifty program that lets you automate lots of stuff
[b:11efab2b]recordNiji.zip[/url:11efab2b][/b:11efab2b] Includes an Action(s) workfile for Niji and Windows .BAT file I created for VLC.
[b:11efab2b]What the Action(s) file does:[/color:11efab2b][/b:11efab2b]
[hide:11efab2b][list:11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Open's Niji[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Waits 1 minute for Niji to fully load.[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Moves the mouse to the desired channel link.[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Double-clicks[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Moves the mouse to the login button[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Clicks[/
11efab2b][/list:u:11efab2b][/hide:11efab2b]
[b:11efab2b]What the Windows BAT file does:[/color:11efab2b][/b:11efab2b]
[hide:11efab2b][list:11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Launches VLC (minimized to tray) and loads the Niji stream[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Saves the incoming stream to the PC (wherever the .bat file is located).[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Runs for 1 hour 20 minutes.[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Closes VLC[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Closes Niji[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Gets the current time of the PC.[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Creates a folder with the current date.[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Moves the saved recording to that folder.
(the folder thing is because timestamping filenames is currently bugged in VLCs stream dump feature)[/
11efab2b][/list:u:11efab2b][/hide:11efab2b]
Since your computer might have a different resolution etc. You’ll need to do this at least once:
[hide:11efab2b]First install Action(s) then open the "nijiLaunchTemplate.wkfl" in Action(s).
On the right side is a list of what this Action does. You need to modify the two sets of "Move Mouse" coordinates to fit your resolution. This is done with the little target icon next to the X and Y coordinate boxes.
Launch Niji and then in Action(s) click the target icon for the first "Move Mouse", then click the channel you want Niji to go to (e.g. NHK).
Next double click on that channel so that the login box pops up (which should already have your username/password filled in, meaning you only have to click the confirm button).
In Action(s) click the target icon for the second "Move Mouse", and then click the login / confirm button on Niji.
In Action(s) go to File > Create an executable workflow
Save it as whatever you like e.g. "nijiNHK.wexe"
You can now also do the same with other Niji channels by simply changing the first "Move Mouse" target coordinates and saving it as a different file e.g. "nijiNTV.wexe", "nijiYomiuri.wexe" etc.[/hide:11efab2b]
Also to make the Windows BAT file work with your PC (I use WIndows 7):
[hide:11efab2b][list:11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]In your My Videos folder, create a folder called "VLC Recordings"[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]In that folder, create two folders "newRecordings" and "currentRecording"[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Place the .bat file in "currentRecording"[/
11efab2b][/list:u:11efab2b][/hide:11efab2b]
To change the recording time from 1 hour 20 minutes to something else:
[hide:11efab2b][list:11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Open the recordNiji-1hr-20.bat in Notepad[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Change the number for "–run-time=4800"[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Save the file (you can change the filename after too to be organized!)
The number has to be in seconds, you can type in Google something like "1 hour 30 minutes in seconds" for a calculation.[/
11efab2b][/list:u:11efab2b][/hide:11efab2b]
Now you have the files all set up how you want them, here’s how to put them into practice:
[hide:11efab2b][b:11efab2b]Getting the Computer to Switch On:[/size:11efab2b][/b:11efab2b][/color:11efab2b]
[list:11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Reboot your computer and go to the BIOS (for my computer that means holding F2, for yours it might be something else)[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Locate the RTC Alarm (real time clock alarm) feature. For me it was under Advanced > ACPI Configuration. For others it might be under "Power Management" or similar.
[b:11efab2b]Note: Remember you're in the BIOS, your computers core, so make sure you don't change any other settings![/color:11efab2b][/b:11efab2b][/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Enable it and set the time to before your TV program starts. There are options for what day etc. but you can only have one alarm. So I just set it once with "everyday" before going to sleep, then turned it back to "Disabled" when booting the PC up in the morning.[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Save and Close (for me that was F10 for others it might be different)[/
11efab2b][/list:u:11efab2b]
[b:11efab2b]Setting Niji to Open On Time:[/size:11efab2b][/b:11efab2b][/color:11efab2b]
[list:11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]In Windows go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Task Scheduler[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Click Create Basic Task (on the right)[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Enter a Name and Description[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Select a timing (e.g. you could have it run every Monday or just once).[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Choose "Start a program"[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Put as the program: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe
For the arguments: /c "C:\path\filename.wexe"
(replace path with wherever you put the Action(s) file and filename with whatever you called it e.g. "nijiNHK.wexe")[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Click OK and Finish.[/
11efab2b][/list:u:11efab2b]
[b:11efab2b]Setting VLC to Record On Time:[/size:11efab2b][/b:11efab2b][/color:11efab2b]
[list:11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]As above, create a Basic Task in Windows Task Scheduler.[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Set the trigger time (make sure it is at least 2~3 minutes after Niji has launched to give things chance to load/buffer).[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]For the program browse to the .bat file[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]OK and Finish.[/
11efab2b][/list:u:11efab2b]
[b:11efab2b]Setting the PC to Shutdown After:[/size:11efab2b][/b:11efab2b][/color:11efab2b]
[list:11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]As above, create a Basic Task in Windows Task Scheduler.[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]Set the trigger time (to after VLC has finished running/recording)[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]For the program put: shutdown.exe
For the Arguments put: /s /f[/
11efab2b]
[:11efab2b]OK and Finish[/
11efab2b][/list:u:11efab2b][/hide:11efab2b]
Now shut the computer down. In the morning when your computer is booting up, make sure to disable the RTC Alarm in the BIOS, Save and Exit. Then it’ll boot into Windows and there should be a MPEG-TS file waiting for you in a timestamped folder in "newRecordings".

You can try Sony Vegas, I’ve been using it for 6 years and it’s not that hard to understand. I could sync the audio of a video I ripped from a DVD that was out of sync
You made a very well explained tutorial on how to record videos from Niji without doing a single thing, we appreciate that. Now, will it work using Niji and Bandicam?

Hm somehow I’ve always found Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas to be confusing (Final Cut Pro not so much but that’s Mac only :\ ), I’m not good with video codecs etc. and the resultant files from their default profiles somehow end up bigger or have glitches for me…, but then my computer isn’t the best for processing high-end video editing software with only 4gb RAM.

Thanks Using Action(s) it’s possible with any software I think. With it you just drag and drop different actions to make a list of what you would do if you were sat there moving and clicking with your mouse or typing on your keyboard and such. There is a "Wait" action you can use to have Action(s) wait for however long you need to record for then click to stop recording.
You can open the Niji Action(s) file I made, then after the Niji stuff in the list add actions for Bandicam in the same file, then you just need to have Windows Task Scheduler run it at the right time.
You could probably also add a "Run System Command" action with:
shutdown.exe /s /f
Which will shutdown the computer.
With all that you don’t need the .bat file. You should be able to just schedule one Action(s) file in Windows Task Scheduler, set the BIOS alarm thing and be done.

I have 2 GB of RAM and my PC handles very well Sony Vegas. I haven’t used Adobe Premiere because I think it’s more complicated, the file size of the videos depends on what do you use (Frame rate, audio rate, size of the video, etc.)
I don’t even touch something from the BIOS thing since I tried to format my PC with Windows 7
So when I see something envolving a BIOS movement, I just stay away from it
why mine is like this? i doesnt show a tv program , all i understand is "arimasen"
[img:1nf7ivxd]http://i57.tinypic.com/dww36.jpg[/img:1nf7ivxd]
Its looks like Niji went down for maintenance… I was on the Yomiuri channel and the stream froze, tried restarting the channel and Niji itself kept freezing even after restarting it. After awhile I restarted and tried again and now I get a "Channel under maintenance" message with a butterfly flapping about.
Great… just 5 minutes before I was about to record Hosei on B-Tops and Nanishiyo too, why cruel world, WHYYYYYY!!
EDIT: It’s back up, hopefully it stays up so I can at least record Nanishiyo >.<

It happens to me too. I only saw the programming on Dec. 31, and from that day, I never saw the programming list never again…
If you ever wanna know what each of the Gaki cast members are gonna be on each week just change the search name on the links below from "月亭方正" (Tsukitei Hosei) to whatever cast member you want (using the little search box top left):

Did channels not go down for you in the past hour or 2? I thought it was on Niji’s side (since there was a maintenance message at one point) so probably would be the same for you?
Those shows are on every Monday (Japan Time)
B-Tops 10:25 ~ 11:25 Yomiuri TV ( http://www.ytv.co.jp/gecchu/ )
Nanishiyo 11:59 ~ 13:00 Osaka TV ( http://www.tv-osaka.co.jp/nanishiyo )
theres no osaka tv channel in the niji applicatiion
theres no osaka tv channel in the niji applicatiion[/quote:15heozeq]
This is the Niji channel list, I made this image because I’m always forgetting what each channel in the list actually is

nice, i didnt noticed it sorry

No need to apologise, like I say I forget what the channels are all the time since I can’t read Kanji.

Only TV Tokyo was down for me, because it only displayed a blue screen with nothing. Other channels worked fine for me when they were down for you, so who knows what was the problem.
I’ll try to catch those shows next time in case they’re down for you
