Difference between normal channels and BS

Hello, I’m curious about what is the differences between the regular channels and the BS ones (Japan only). Does their content change a lot from each other?

Regular Channels: Regional broadcasting
BS (Satellite broadcasting): Nationwide broadcasting
CS (Communications satellite broadcasting): Nationwide broadcasting

Both of them are satellite broadcasting, but the programming is totally different.
