Even the recently English-subbed version didn’t make me laugh and I can enjoy nearly every Gaki subbed episode.

Have you tried watching any of Mori Shinichi singing videos? Helped me get the ‘impersonation’ better. As an impersonation is only works of you know who they are doing.
This video is the best one i have found that you can see Endos version fits in. Right at the start you can see it!

The way I see it, Endo’s Mori Shinichi impression is more of a caricature than mimicry. I think it’s hilarious, mostly because of how absurd it is, especially when he turns it up to eleven, rather than for any technical rigor or actual similarity to the real Mori Shinichi.
Furthermore, it’s okay to not like every single thing Downtown, Cocorico, and Mr. Other have done. I can wholeheartedly exclaim that Gaki no Tsukai is my favorite Japanese live-action show, but early in the show’s history, they did some stuff with animals that was outrageous, and not in a good way. And I dislike those episodes. But I love most of the rest of them.

Haha! Well this is one of those things that I really WANT to sub. I usually finish the episode very quickly after the airing.
Unlike other episodes which are still fun to do but are planned ahead and I sometimes it feels like I have to rush them through.
Endo plays Mori Shinichi part 2 was absolutely hilarious, even if you happen to be a regular fan and don’t know who Mori is!
