Are you talking about Yamazaki ? Because his wife was already revealed ages ago during “Goodbye Yamazaki” and “500 quizz to Aya Yamazaki” and other little shows.

Yes I’ve seen that episode a long time ago. But remember she never showed her face in the EDF batsu and thought it was random for him to show her on IG
Well, many wives of those comedians didn’t want to appear. Once Tanaka’s ex-wife appeared but after that she was blurred with theirs kids same for Hamada’s wife. The first wife of Endou, Chiaki appeared in many batsu, but the last wife of Endou didn’t. Matsumoto’s wife is also very discreet. That’s how i remember it. Privacy is a normal volition/decision for a notorious person or a celebrity, even if Japan doesn’t have a lot of paparazzi, it’s still a problem for theirs kids and school treatments (Tanaka’s kid was bullied because of that)
Never knew Tanaka’s kid was bullied cuz of the fame I just remember one ep of seeing Matsumoto’s mom it was surprising to see and very cool ep but I wonder will Matsumoto ever appear on TV again ever since the allegation incident?
The information “Tanaka’s kid is being bullied” comes from one of the batsu but I don’t remember which one exactly, if memory serves me correctly I think it was in “Earth Defense Batsu”, otherwise , then it’s on “Prison Batsu”. It was in the CD/DVDs, they showed Tanaka’s son playing football and talking about his dad, and Tanaka was crying lol.
Regarding Matsumoto: if Japan becomes exactly like Europe in terms of being “accused before proven” and the cancel-culture, then there is a good chance that his image is already ruined/tarnished, and the studio wouldn’t risk losing its audience by taking an actor or comedian with an unclean backstory. Hope it won’t happen and we will see him again on screen.
Now that you mentioned that scene that really sounds familiar I definitely seen both of those batsu’s I guess it was the pop up draw game. Japan is strictly known to care about reputation better yet majority of Asia at least the big 3 this really sucks for Matsumoto I still see Hamada on commercials like the sushi one for instance I honestly know about the batsu games more than I know about there regular segments I’m just now getting into the Food Marathon watching the Gyoza ep they always come up with good concepts but Hamada and Matsumoto are really ultimate legends in comedy world doesn’t get any better than those guys cuz they really ascended their boundaries doing more than just stand up on stage

For me the absence of Matsu causes a big void in the team and the shows, he really had a great presence and a great role as a humorous leader. After aging, Hamada became less “tsukkomi”-like and seems to be more gentle and caring for his juniors, it’s a good thing but i feel like something was lost about his humoristic traits, he is more like a senior leading the show. Yamazaki (“Tsukitei” lol) is still the same as before and still has a big presence in the group. And Takana, Endou, are essential in the group, they fill the atmosphere and create more exchanges in the group.
So i hope they all remain and stay together, especially Matsumoto.
