You’re seeing that because this is 1080i and not 1080p. The "i" means "interlace" and you’re seeing the interlacing pattern. Probably It’s more a problem with how your media player handles interlaced video than anything else. Look at your media player’s settings to see if it has any features to smooth out interlaced videos. Or try another media player like [url=http://www.videolan.org/vlc/#download:2era1lqo]VLC[/url:2era1lqo]. I know some people here aren’t too fond of it, but I’ve been using it without problems for years. AND it has a feature to smooth out interlaced videos.[/quote:2era1lqo]

It’s going to take some time for the subbers in the forum to get the subs rolled out since this just happened and subbing several hours of Japanese to English is a tasking project. Usually they’ll update us with 30 minutes of show like last year.

1080i is the highest resolution broadcasted on all television networks around the world. We could make a 1080p version but we would be stretching a 1440 x 1024 interlaced clip into 1920 x 1080 progressive, which would just degrade the quality and take up more space on your computer. The [i:3lcpdebg]only[/i:3lcpdebg] way to get a legitimate 1080p version is if Downtown releases this special on blu-ray and someone is kind enough to rip it (and Downtown only does DVDs.)
EDIT: This batsu game was probably only shot for TV, so their camera’s highest resolution is 1080i.
