Stumbled across a channel yesterday with some interesting finds.
Apparently NTV do a 24 hour broadcast for charity each year, and this was a contribution Downtown made one year with an Oogiri style game, whilst blindfolded and wearing a helmet, they have to guess what Downtown are attacking them with, it escalates rather quickly.

Like Downtown Kazaana and Downtown Juice, there was another short-lived Downtown-hosted spinoff show from 1999~2000 called "[url=https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%8F%E3%82%89%E3%81%84%E3%81%AE%E3%81%98%E3%81%8B%E3%82%93:2am1uysc]わらいのじかん[/url:2am1uysc]"
One of the segments in it was a "High Tension Waking Up Challenge." Which, like the "High Tension" series on Gaki involves them doing silly acts. Here is Cocorico’s crazy attempt.

Back in the early 90s, Housei (whilst still in his Team Zero duo) and Jimmy Onishi were in a school comedy called "ファンキー・モンキー・ティーチャー"
Though the clip they show mainly focuses on Sanma’s appearance you still see a bit of Jimmy and Housei.

The channel has some other bits and pieces, e.g. I bet Hamada tripped Imada on purpose towards the end of this one (Matsumoto seems to try and warn him at first, but soon laughs his ass off)

Very interesting. Though I didn’t find the High Tension Grand Prix segment funny, I knew exactly what Endo was going to do once I saw his tighty whities. I did enjoy the Funky Monkey Teacher clip. Murakami’s fanny pack is huge, and I reconize the guy in the Daiei Eagles jacket as the guy from Ashita ga aru sa who would spend all day at the office writing haiku. Now I’m off to learn more about Team Zero, I always thought Hosei was a single comedian.
Here’s some information on what happened to Hosei’s Team Zero Partner. Pretty incredible:

Yeah admittedly they kind of rolled out the popular routines we know from Gaki (Endo’s dance and Tanaka breakdown).

Yeah it was short-lived as his partner soon felt he wanted to pursue film directing instead which that article shows he was very dedicated about. Also judging by his interview it sounds like they didn’t know each other before they separately tried to enter the comedy scene alone. I wonder if they hooked up out of necessity since the Japanese comedy scene has a lot of duos. This is a very early show they did:

You see him and his partner in very early Gaki episodes, for example episode #110 (1991.12.22) has Team Zero perform a stage act, then Downtown get them drunk to see if they can still perform their act. They were also regulars on some spin-off shows like ダウンタウン也. But later on I imagine they were drifting apart so you can hardly tell they’re together, Downtown Juice for example, though Hiromitsu Noriyasu was also a regular, Housei turned more towards Downtown, the two Koji’s etc. and basically became ‘everyone’s boke.’
oh shit, it was really dangerous with the chainsaw.

Haha, Matsumoto always gets this strange look on his face when handling a chainsaw, it’s kind of disturbing.
